I FINALLY remembered to take a picture of my class behavior expectation board!
I am so pleased with how it turned out!
It became complete after Constitution Day. I was inspired by a pin from Crystal at Kreative in Kinder to create a "We the Kids" proclamation
that went with our "In Our Classroom" ideals.
Later in the year my class will have to
cover the Constitution, Bill of Rights, & the Three Branchesof Government.
Therefore Constitution Day is a great opportunity to start early!
We used the book, We the Kids by David Catrow to introduce the Preamble.
We then watched the video of David Catrow explaining in kid friendly terms his idea of what the Preamble means.
Afterwards we used our "In Our Classroom" ideals to
help form our "We the Kids" Preamble.
Lastly, we talked about rights of students in our class. At the bottom of the board we created a t-chart of their rights but also of their responsibilities.
We tied in the responsibilities to complement our school wide expectations that our students are: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn Everyday!

Love it! Your bulletin boards are always so inviting. You need to be a classroom decorator. I'll bet you could make a pretty penny...
Hello! We just found you and are now following! We would love it if you stop by sometime!

I love this idea! In previous years we've created a class mission statement very much like your "We the students..." I wish we'd taken time to do it this year. I'm your newest follower and would love it if you'd stop by and follow me.
